Julianne Dainard

Registered Massage Therapist

Julianne started with MiltonBackDoc in May of 2016. Julianne was an Athletic Therapist, and is now a Registered Massage Therapist and a Registered Kinesiologist. She has also completed extensive training in Complex Decongestive Therapy.

Julianne started in Manual Therapy as a student-therapist at Wilfrid Laurier University while studying to obtain her honours degree in Kinesiology and Physical Education. Her experience led her to pursue her interest in Manual Therapy and turn it into a career. After completing her degree in 2006, she subsequently completed the Athletic Therapy program at Sheridan College and has been practicing as a certified Athletic Therapist since 2009.

While working as an Athletic therapist, she continued her education by attending the advanced standing program for Massage Therapy at the Ontario College of Health and Technology. She became a Registered Massage Therapist after completing the program in 2011.  With Julianne’s experience with the effectiveness of hands-on treatment, and with her multiple designations, she is able to utilize a variety of perspectives and techniques to best meet the patients’ treatment needs.  Julianne’s ultimate goal is to provide the highest quality of care in order to help individuals achieve their maximum potential with regards to health and fitness.

Julianne has always had an interest in the complications related to edema and swelling. This prompted her to pursue her Complex Decongestive Therapy (CDT) qualification. This involves massage techniques which are specifically designed for lymphatic drainage to treat Lymphedema and other swelling-related conditions.  Julianne completed her CDT training through the Toronto Lymphocare Centre in 2014.

Outside of the clinical setting, Julianne has been enthusiastically involved in a multitude of sports.  Julianne worked as the head therapist for Jr. A. and Jr. B hockey teams and Jr. A. lacrosse teams for almost 10 years. She has worked with University and College varsity teams for soccer, volleyball, basketball, and rugby.  She has worked with high school football and rugby teams.  She has also been part of medical staff for various marathon and biking events.

Julianne has completed the Bauerfeind fitter course, and is a Certified Compression Stocking Fitter.

Massage Style

Julianne was an Athletic Therapist first and is a Registered Kinesiologist, and as a result she has a strong appreciation for sporting and movement related dysfunction and injury. Her style is rhythmic and thorough to the area of complaint, incorporating a variety of specific contacts to problematic and compensating areas. She employs traditional Swedish techniques with a complement of trigger point therapy, stretching and non-Swedish techniques such as myofascial release and cross-fibre frictions. Additionally, she has expertise in exercise instruction, specifically with respect to sport and training, and is the therapist in our office best trained in taping for sport and injury prevention.
